A Note on Our Upcoming Release

A note from the owner

Two hundred and fifty years ago, our forefathers upon this continent determined one universal human right to be primary and foremost: the freedom of each individual to speak their mind, without fear of intimidation or reprisal.  We rebelled against an autocratic king of England to secure that right, among the many others we now enjoy.

Autocracy and the forces of oppression, it seem, are alive and well.  It is ironic, perhaps, that in agreeing to publish an English author I am now facing my own "war" of independence.

Independent, in its long form, is a word that we do not often use in publishing, as the bouncier term indie has come to mean so much more - scrappy, unknown, strange, boundary-pushing.  But perhaps it is important, particularly today, to reiterate what it really means.

I am an independent publisher.  I, frankly, will do as I damn well please.  I have contracted with Kit Power to publish his book MILLIONAIRES DAY, and no force on heaven or earth will sway me from doing so.  I have spoken to all of the employees here at French Press Publishing, and we have all agreed that, despite the harassment, and the apparent attacks on our online presence, we will stand behind both this book and its author with absolute solidarity.

Without getting into specifics, French Press Publishing will never bow or scrape to threats or intimidation of any kind.  

I do not care if this book exposes malfeasance in the British government or the supine servility of its national media.  Frankly, I would be delighted to be on the side of the whistleblower in such a case.  I care even less if it treads upon certain sacred cows that people would rather not discuss.  If it takes an "ugly American" to do so, I will happily lay bare the hypocrisies that the ruling class of the UK would rather its subjects not discuss.  Further, I am heartened by the brave voices of the other authors, editors, and publishers who are starting to break the silence around MILLIONAIRES DAY.  You’ve stood with us and French Press Publishing will stand squarely with you.

MILLIONAIRES DAY will debut at British FantasyCon in Chester as planned.  I have secured the first print run in a safe location to prevent any further interference.  I and my entire staff will be there to support Kit Power, unafraid.  The book will go into wide release on October 14, 2024, as planned, in spite of the many apparently coincidental mishaps that process has encountered to date.  If you also value freedom of the press, I suggest you support this quality release.
